Turks and Caicos
I love looking back at travel photos. They instantly send you back to wherever it was you were. The smell of the air, the feel of the sand, and the sun on your face.

Sun, Sand and Polaroid
Anxious anticipation took over as we landed under the cover of dark ski in Turks and Caicos last week. It’d be eight tortuous hours later before we’d actually be able to see the breath taking turquoise water with our own eyes. A vacation free of family and daily obligations was a head of us and all I could think about was the fact we didn’t have internet. How was I going to get through the week? Torture I know, a gorgeous beach and 80 degree weather…rough. Surprising to myself, I did make it through the week and it felt quite liberating to say good-bye world…you have no way to get a hold of me! HA! As much as it hurt to leave my ‘big’ camera home, it was the best decision I made, aside from taking the trip. I shot all film, mostly holga, slide, polaroid and a little 35mm. It was so exciting to not know what exactly I was getting. And now going through the photos just brings that much more joy and happiness to them. I’ll be sharing more as I get the film back.

Farewell to fall
‘How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.’
-Elsie N. Brady
Denver has officially had it’s first snow and I feel it’s time to say good-bye to my favorite season. I love fall. The smell of leaves, cool nights and warm days and the gorgeous colors the sun brings to life. ahhh. But everything must come to an end. A snugly blanket with a cup of hot tea is calling my name.

Blind Enthusiasm
Crazy lady says at mile 3, ‘I think we should do a half marathon in every state.’ I think sure why not! Then crazy lady at mile 12 says, ‘maybe just a 10k.’ I muster a breathless ‘yea’.
(our enthusiastic selves before the race)
Sometimes I have to learn things by putting myself through the agony of it before I’ve learned, maybe that was not a good idea. I can be very stubborn and think that I can do anything if I just set my mind to it. Which is all well and good for most things, but apparently is not when it concerns my body. And we trained, trained so much that at one point we had to stop because we both we’re having pains. You’d think that those pains would be a red flag to at least one of us…nope. We just kept on going. Meg and I have more in common then I first thought. So on race day we felt good. We’d run 10 miles several times, so what’s another 3 miles? Well I will be completely honest…I wanted to die by mile 10. My body kept saying ‘what in the hell are you doing?’ But despite the blisters on my feet, the fatigue in my legs and every inch of my body saying STOP, I keep going. It really is increatable what your body can handle when make up your mind you’re going to do it. I’m pretty sure Meghan thought I wouldn’t make it to the finish. But we did. And then I promptly got so dizzy I almost fainted.
The best part of this whole experience was by far the training. Meghan and I have run together since July and because of it have become amazing friends. Even with the height difference.
I wouldn’t trade any of those runs for anything. I had to learn the hard way, but it was an amazing experience none the less and I can now say I’ve run a half marathon. And never will I run one again. Sorry Meg, but I just can’t think of a reason to run that far after I’ve done it once.
A very BIG thank you to our husbands Chad and Cody for putting up with our early morning runs and being there to support us yesterday! You both are amazing men!

and we’re still at least cheerful.
And I’m going to die at the finish…notice Meg is still smiling. She could probably keep going.

Somehow still enthusiastic after.
