You had us baby girl. You’re daddy and I were high fiveing each other saying, ‘YAY, we got this whole potty training thing down!’ We left last week on a high and honestly feeling pretty inspired by you. Three accidents and you’re ready to go…it can’t be that easy? In reality you are still young and you’re still learning. We took some big steps backwards this week, but today you’re doing much better again.
Molding a little human with a will all her own is not simple. It’s not clean and easy. It does not come with instructions or how to. It’s a learn as you go and trust your gut. A gut I’m constantly second guessing myself. When do I push? When do I hang back and let you learn at your pace? That is a steep curve I’m just beginning to climb. Forcing you to do anything breaks my heart every time. I don’t want to be a bully. I want you to grow and learn when you’re ready. But I also know a healthy dose of pushing is involved to really grow and know what you’re truly capable of. When I do decide to push and we make it thru the other side, you’re always pleasantly surprised with the outcome. You’re happy we pushed and give hugs while we all clap and cheer.
I pray for wisdom to know when to push and when to step back every day. When to give you mountains of opportunities but know that it is not me who climbs them, but you. You have to see the top in order to find the desire to climb. Just know we will be by your side every.single.step of the way. Cheering you on with love, hugs, kisses, and the proudest hearts.
xoxo – Your Mama
