He was the talented and adventurous young architect over seeing the school construction.
He was doing something most people can’t image doing.  He and his wife Sarah moved to Nepal for just over a year.
All so these schools would be built properly and safely for the young lives that would be using them.
When they moved back to Denver I knew a ‘Nepal group’ would quickly form
(Almost half of the people that went on the trip were from Denver and 4 of us all had babies with in 6 months of each other!)

These two have already done amazing things I can only image what the future holds.
Olive is one lucky little girl.  (And funny fact, we both had Oliver as a boy’s name!)

It’s a journey of recovery. http://rachaelgracephotography.com/personal-photos/its-a-journey-of-recovery/ http://rachaelgracephotography.com/personal-photos/its-a-journey-of-recovery/#comments Tue, 31 Dec 2013 17:17:55 +0000 http://rachaelgracephotography.com/?p=7288 ‘I think a spiritual journey is not so much a journey of discovery.
It’s a journey of recovery.
It’s a journey of uncovering your own inner nature.
It’s already there.’
-Billy Corgan

I laid in bed wide awake, some how I thought by going to bed early I would get extra sleep.  Instead I keep coming back to an idea.
It’s the end of the year and everyone is looking back at the year and decide if it really lived up to everything they had hoped back in January.
I see so many other photographers posting the favorites from the past year.  I think, I could do that.  And yet that feels fake.

There’s something that I think that’s in all of us.  The need/want to be liked and loved.  To be accepted.

So many times I come to the computer and write something only to delete it and write something that I think people will like.  Or that paints me in a certain way.  Instead of writing what’s true in my heart.  I always look back at those posts and wonder what I was thinking.  That’s not me.

Looking back at this year of monumental person growth and understanding I know for the first time what has been trying to scream for so long.
My true self.
I am spiritual in every sense of the word.  Living sustainably is incredibly important to me.  Being a parent is a journey only you can take.  No one can walk it for you, and it will change you in beautiful and the most sacred ways.

Now that’s it’s December 31st, I can truly say I will be more true to myself.  Write what’s truly in my heart and not try to impress and be someone I’m not.  Because the only way I can photography in an authentic way, is to be authentic in every other aspect of life.

Back in January I never would have thought this year would break open my heart the way it did.  But I’m so grateful it did.  I’m grateful for the clients & friends that showed me the direction I had been denying.  And I’m grateful for my amazing husband and the little we created for unwavering support and love.

I may have been broken and quieted in the past.  But I rise now.  I rise and shine bright!

Back Baby! http://rachaelgracephotography.com/denver-photography/back-baby/ http://rachaelgracephotography.com/denver-photography/back-baby/#comments Tue, 12 Nov 2013 17:12:31 +0000 http://rachaelgracephotography.com/blog/?p=6975 Family photographer-048I’M BACK BABY!!!
Holy, it feels amazing to be back in the saddle blogging and sharing with the world.  I missed it these last few months.  And honestly this hiatus was WAY longer then I would have liked.  But all good things take impatiences, I mean patience right?  Still working on that whole patience than’g.
I have learned and grown so much in the short months I’ve been a mother (and still learning!) and I can honestly say I have so much more clarity in my life.  And it all starts right here.   I honestly love my life right now.  Sure there are times I want to run my head into a wall (like when peanut just wants to play at 2am) but right now, this moment things are pretty freak’n awesome.  And I want that for you my friend.  I want you to fall in love with your own life.  When you’re head over heals in love with your life you walk with a little hop in your step, a twinkle in your eye, you’re a little more patient with your kiddos and spouse, you smile at strangers, there magically seems to be just a few more minutes in the day, you can handle the crazy moments in the day without going crazy yourself, and you begin to feel free to be who you were meant to be.
In world full of excess, overload, and exhaustion I want to bring a space of less is more, calm, and inspiration.  A place to embrace life as it is right now.  And of course document and share the story that is your life right now!  You can continue down the path of excess and exhaustion or you can stop and embrace everything right here and now.  I promise you, breathing is more then worth it.  It’s life giving!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart..  I am so grateful for all those that have entrusted me to tell their story and all those that just come here to be inspired.

Thank you.

This nap time work’n mama is so beyond excited and ready to embrace the next chapter!

xoxo – Rachael
