A dear friend asked me recently how I find time to really enjoy life. She felt life was always rushed and chaotic and un-nerving, that she couldn’t really settle into any one moment.
We’d been talking about life and what we’d been up to since we last saw each other. I’d said that I felt ease and that life was humming along in a good way. I didn’t feel overly stressed and maybe she sensed that.
I mean isn’t ‘being busy’ a sign of the good life? A sign that we’re accomplishing something? If you told someone, ‘I’m not really busy at all, we’re just enjoying life!’ You’d get the side eye and people would think you gave up on life or weren’t enriching your kids enough.
But I digress.
Those feelings are all to familiar to me too. But what I’m learning is to turn away from the negative overwhelm and into the positive calm. Even if it’s just for a moment. It’s not easy, and ask my husband, I’m not perfect and I get caught up in the nitty gritty of life far more then I care to admit.
I’ve been reading Abraham Hicks, which I feel is so hippy of me. But in the book he talks about talking one positive thought moment and rolling it into the next and the next and the next. Until you see more positive then you do negative.
I’m an emotional sponge that collects emotions from anyone and anything around me, so if one person is off, I feel it. I feel the negative and sometimes fall into the negative right along with them. Misery loves company right?
But taking one tiny step away and then another and another, has been amazing. It’s amazing what it does for my parenting, for the way I feel, and for my outlook on life.
I photograph heart bursting moments for a reason. Because they are the life line. The reason to keep fighting and growing!
I’m not sure where I’m going with all of this, but I felt the need to share. Maybe it was for you.
