Inspiration

  • Stay Humble

  • ocean weddingI’m exhausted already. Stay at home working mum is way harder then I thought.  But I’m grateful I even have the choice.  I’m grateful we don’t have to put Delilah in daycare.  I’m grateful I can take off during the day and take her to story time at the library.  And play dates with friends.  Even thru the sleepless nights as she cuts two teeth I am saying this over and over to myself.  To work hard and stay humble.  Because we can loose perspective so quickly.

I can’t wait to share photos of D’s first visit to the ocean too.  :)

  • Wide Open

  • I did it!  I pulled the trigger and finally opened an Etsy shop!
I’ve been talking, thinking, writing about opening one for almost a year now.
I wanted some place to sell my art and creative endeavors.  And now I do.

    Right Here baby!

I’ll keep the blog updated when I add new items.
Right now there are a few canvas transfers I made this winter.  Next up are screen printing canvas bags!

  • The answer is simple

  • winter portraitDon’t complicate things or try to figure it all
out.  The answer is simple: look in your heart.

Record heat this week and D and I are hibernating in the basement.  It’s days like these you miss the snow and chill in the air.  But that’s why there are seasons, to remind you to be grateful for the cold and the hot, the hard and easy, and the perfect and imperfect.

  • Wait and See

  • The picture will be beautiful, wait and see.

downtown engagementThere’s no crystal ball, no fortune teller, and no way of knowing what the future holds no matter how much you think you can control.  Life will always surprise you and sometimes give way to something even more beautiful then you imaged.  If only we’d open our hearts. to the possibility.
Sending lots of love to these two today.  They have so much strength and grace.

  • Girl Rising

  • Girl RisingAs we sat in a oddly warm movie theater waiting for the movie to start, I couldn’t help but notice that we were surrounded by more tweens and teens then I think I’ve been around since I was that age.  I’m sure Cody was wondering why we were there.
By the end of the movie I couldn’t help but feel pride in those young girls that surrounded us.  Whether they were there because they wanted to be or because mom thought it would be good.  Seeing the stories of Girl Rising is so inspiring and humbling.  If a young girl in poverty can stand up and say I will go to school, then a young girl here can to.  She can stand up with the less fortunate and fight right along side of her.  Create a better world for both of them.
We’ve been trying to do a date night once a month since D was born.  ( All thanks to my dear friend Meg) And this month I wanted nothing more then to see this documentary.  Girls and education has been a heart throb ever since my trip to Nepal.  There is just something about empowering a young girl, whether here in the US or in the poorest corners of the world, that just makes me leap for joy and cry the happiest tears.
Watching the movie made me feel even more privileged to live where I do and to know I can give Delilah every tool she needs to succeed in this world.  I want that for ever girl.  I want every girl to know she’s loved and she matters.  That she is strong and to fight.
Go see Girl Rising.  It will inspire and move you.  I promise.

  • Stillness

  • stillnessTake time each day to seek out stillness,
to find that sacred spot.  Let your mind
and soul be at ease.  Don’t grasp and grab
for the magic and miracles.  When
you reside in that place of stillness,
the joy, miracles, and magic you’re
    seeking will find you.

My favorite place to walk, run, and just be.  The birds chirp and the squirrels run from tree to tree.  I can’t help but feel grounded in nature.  The feeling of harmony brings everything back into perspective and I can see more clearly every time.

  • Connectedness

  • I want to be a story teller.
I want to tell the story of people’s lives,
how they’re connected to their loved ones and to nature.
Where ever they are in life, I want to photograph the genuine, authentic, light filled life.

No better place to start then my own little family.mother and child
