Letting Go in the South of France

France-025

Cody and I looked at each other with a look of exhaustion mixed with disbelief.
Delilah had been screaming for two hours and it was only 2am.  Awesome.
And to make matters worse I’m sure we were keeping our gracious hosts up!

As much as we try to keep an open mind and minimize our expectations,
somehow there’s still an hidden expectation.  You don’t even know it’s there until it doesn’t go the way you thought.
We love to travel.  And not just close to home, but around the world.
It’s something that we hold very close to us and want to teach D to have a love for as well.
When we decided to embark on this adventure I knew it wasn’t going to be like all our other trips.
Or at least I thought I knew that.
Oh boy did I have something to learn and let go of.

We had pushed D to her limit and now she was pushing back in the most delightful way possible.
We had for almost a week now totally turned everything upside down.  Not a single day was the same and naps were all on the go.
Not a good combo for a 6 month old.  She’d played along for awhile, but now she’d had enough.
And wasn’t afraid to tell us.

A big lesson learned.  Take it easy.
We had planned a day of down time, but once we were there that day never really happened.
There was just to much to see and do to hang around the hotel!

We traveled down the coast to Aux-en-Provence hoping to visit the famous Calanque’s of France.
High winds prevented us from seeing a lot of the famous beaches but we did manage to hike into one beach.
And a friendly local pointed us to another hidden beach only the locals know about.

Thankful the day we left Aux, I felt a huge sense of relief and the tension that had settled into our picturesque trip was lifting.
We can’t hardly let a couple of rough days take over the vacation.
We are in the south of France after all!

Honestly the first photo sums up how we felt the 3 days in Aux.

And all three of us pretty much ate nothing but baguettes while we there.
The French really know how to make amazing bread.

Thankfully the last few days of the trip had us wanting to move to France.
Goes to show you just never know what will happen on a vacation.
