Project 52; Week 51; A little italian grandmother
‘Children have never been very good at listening to their elders,
but they have never failed to imitate them.’ – James Baldwin
Watching you play is like a window into your world. What you must be thinking and learning never ceases to delight me. Watching you is like a porthole to my own rhythms and normal routines that I don’t even realize I’m doing. You’re favorite shoes are boots, you need a backpack or purse to leave the house, and your babies are never far out of site. You’re own home making skills are impressive. A little Italian grandmother of sorts, always making something and insisting we sit and eat. Always. Your babies have the best care possible and the softest blanket to snuggle into. A clean diaper, poop free of course. What a mama you will make some day! It’s hard to even imagine a time 30 years from now, but I see glimpses every now and then. My heart bursts every time, and the thought of sharing these photos with you is almost unreal.
How far we’ve come in a years time. At the begining of a year I tend to think, we’re/I’m not where I want to be. Not thinking about how far we’ve/I’ve come. All the little moments and lessons learned add up to some pretty amazing growth. I’m not the same mother I was a year ago. I wouldn’t say I’m better, maybe just slightly wiser and full of grace to make it through the tough days. I sometimes wonder how I will manage two kids, but then I see you like this and I know you are wiser and older then I give you credit for. You will adjust and love your sibling, just like I will adjust and learn what loving two babes is like.
xoxo – Your Mama
