Anything which parents have not learned from experience they can now learn from their children.
The mundane is boring. Your over worked brain and body go on auto pilot ninety percent of the day. Routine becomes your ritual so dependent upon that to live without it seems odd and slightly horrifying. And yet your heart and soul yearns for something more to come from that daily grind. It knows that it’s in those small seemingly undefined and normal moments lives something altogether spectacular waiting to be discovered. There is something holy about the normal every day life business. In all truth it is in that daily life of diaper changes, car pool, and toddler tantrums that you find exactly what you crave. Grace. Grace to be present in the moment and know that every thing you put into those little lives will come back ten fold down the road. Grace to understand you’re not perfect, but they never asked for perfect. They just ask for you. A you that loves with out reservation and without needing to be loved back. Grace to deal with the never ending piles of toys, laundry, mail, and school work. The piles that can become so high they cast shadows of doubt as to the job you’re doing. They stare back at you daring you to keep going. To keep your head high in the midst of it’s disdain. There’s grace in the moments that bring tears of happiness to your eyes. Tears so sweet with gratitude for this one life. The life you maybe didn’t ask for but know is exactly where you should and need to be. This is the mundane. The ordinary. This is parenthood in all it’s glory. A job that has no compairson and shouldn’t. To find words to do it justice only diminish what it truly is. To wholeheartedly understand is to experience it first hand. Walk with your heart in another human’s body. Get down in the trenches with vomit stained shirts and pureed carrot in your hair. Love so deeply that your chest will collapse if even one breath went by without them. To find so much love and grace in one sweet mundane moment can only be summed up in living and breathing the experience of parenthood.
These girls are so fiery loved, I leave wishing I was 3 and living in their world.
