Project 52, Week 37. On her own terms

I’ve tried to bend your will to mine to many times to count.
Usually with consequences that left both of us in tears and ready to raise the white flag.
There is no bending your will to mine, that is completely clear.
All I can do is hold space for you to learn, grow, gain confidence, and blossom into your own.
Give you every tool I can think of to help you along on your journey.
Show you that there are certain ways to do things.
Then step back and cheer you on.
It’s in these times that things flow smoothly.  You listen.  You have fun.  You gain so much confidence.
YOU decided no more diapers at the beginning of this week.  It honestly terrified me and took me by surprise.
But I got excited along with you.  Put all my faith in your ability to learn and took the leap.
There were plently of accidents.  A pair of shoes peed in (still don’t know how to clean those)
But you never wavered.  You never showed any signs of giving up or being disappointment.
I’m so proud of you for not giving up.
Thursday we were out all morning, no accidents and one pee in a public restroom.
And even today you start your day with a confidence to conquer anything.
And oh my, you will move mountains for sure with your will and determination!
My baby is not so baby anymore and couldn’t be prouder.
