Provence France; Soaking up the last few days.

If you’d like to read about the first leg of our trip GO HERE.
Or the second leg of the trip GO HERE.

I could feel the air lifting.  My tense muscles finally letting go.
I could breath again and not feel a heavy weight of anxiety.
Something about heading to a new location felt so good.
Just a few more days and we would be heading back to our normal life.
I just wanted to hold onto these last few days, whether they were good or bad.
Hold onto our little family traveling, meeting new people, see new things.
These last few days turned out to be the best days of the entire trip.
Our hosts (a little B&B centuries old) was remarkable.
I could have stayed there the entire trip it was just that relaxing and beautiful.
We swam, toured a monastery, cliff town, and ate the most amazing food.
By the time we left I wanted to extend the trip and not leave.

I’ve had a few people ask for tips on traveling abroad with littles, so here’s my advice on the subject.

1. Pack as light as possible.  I honestly took way to many clothes for both D and I.  She did not need 2 outfits for every day!
If need be you can always find a place to do a load of laundry, which is what we did half way thru.  It’s difficult to handle the babe and a bunch of bags too.

2. Consider renting a car.  If you’re only in one big city then you probably don’t need one, but if you go off the beaten trail like we like to do, a car is essential.

3. Bring a baby monitor.  We used ours a number of times so we weren’t quarantined in the room in the evening.
Obviously we didn’t go far (most of the time is was just downstairs) but it was nice to have.

4. Know that this will not be a romantic trip.  I had no idea that I even felt a need for romance but by the end I was really kinda missing that part of traveling with my husband.
We had little moments here and there, but really it was a FAMILY trip.  Funny that I even have to say that to myself!

5. Picnicing is AWESOME.  We did this before kids, but it’s even better with kids.
Hit the grocery store and then find a shady spot to hangout.  The kids can play and make a mess without you worrying.  And it’s cheaper!
We brought a weather proof blanket that folded up well and used it a ton.

6. Have a loose plan.  We were really sick for two days but felt we should still try to do everything…not our best idea.
Build in a couple of days to do nothing, we thought we had but really we didn’t.

7. If you bring a stroller also have a way to carry the kiddo.  We used our pack more then the stroller because of all the stairs!  But strollers are awesome in the city for the most part.

Most of all RELAX!  You’re traveling with a baby so nothing will go as planned.  That’s ok and to be expected.
Embrace the crazy and you’ll come home with amazing memories and a little wiser.  :)
