Project 52; Week 19, Independence.

Some mothers wish for their little ones to stay small.
It seems once there are children running around time seems to go even faster.
The days become shorter and your to do’s become longer.
So you wish for it all to slow down and your littles to stay little so you can hold onto their cuteness.
I don’t want to hold you back my girl.
I love seeing your independence bloom every single day.
It’s using utensils and a real cup right now.
You’ll eat anything if you can use a spoon or fork.
(You bet your butt I use that to my advantage to get you to eat your veggies!)
I think instead of praying for time to stop and your littles to stop growing we embrace the moment.
Slow down our own minds and actions and really see our kids.
Down at your level where everything is amazing and wonder filled.
I know I get lost in my own mind chatter…a lot.
But it’s the moments I give you undivided attention or just watch you explore my heart grows with so much purpose.
I lock those moments away in my memory for the days that are hard.
I pull them out when you’re on the floor screaming for what ever reason a toddler screams for.
I’ll save them for the days when you’re 16 and fighting to be an adult but still needing me to be in the shadows just a little longer.
I’ll save them for when you have children and I’ll tell you all about when you were little.
I refuse to look back on your childhood with ‘where’d it all go?’
Instead I’ll know exactly.

And we’ll have photos of course. 😉

xoxo – Your Mama
