So why not do it in style!  Bouncing gym, pinata, cake, balloons and more sugar then a cotton candy stand!  And how can you forget you best pals!?  And Max was dressed to impress too!  LOVE the cute little sweater and jeans.  A little heart breaker he is!

During another gorgeous Colorado fall evening I met up with the Ferdig family.  We did a session with them last year when it was just Ella, but now they’ve added Lilly.  If my kids are half as cute as Monica and Pat’s kids….I’m going to have LOTS.

Monica told me a story after we’d finished the session.  A few days later they were driving by the park and Ella says, ‘Cheese Rachael!  Rachael’s my friend, but she had to go bye-bye.’   Oh yea I’m going to kid nap her, to freak’n cute!

4 year old Nick

Nick is 4, can you tell?  I love this shot, just kinda sums up that age doesn’t it?  The Maitlen Family graciously invited me into their home to photograph Nick’s 4th birthday party.  I love shooting kids, they crack me up!  They’re never short of energy or imagination.  By the time we were done playing in the yard their feet were completely green along with my knees.  Signs of a good time in my book!

The spark remains

August 4, 2009

Marriage is a lot of work.  period.  I see a lot of people at the very beginning of their marriage.  Happy and full of life.  They can’t wait for what their life together will hold.  You wonder how some couples lose their way sometimes.  My parents have been married for 34 years, and the spark is still most definitely there.  Almost to the point where I have to tell my parents to get a room.   There’s something odd about saying that.  But really I can only hope to have the spark that they have when Cody and I are their age.  I think it’s easy to be nieve in the beginning, but as time goes by you realize there’s way more to this marriage thing then you thought, good and bad.

While I was visiting my parents we sat around a fire pit, when out of no where my dad starts laughing.  And my dad can have a odd sense of humor sometimes, so you never really know what’s going to come out of his mouth.  Both my mom and I looked at him with confused looks and asked what was so funny.  He looks at me and says ‘your mom is hot.’  For many people that’d be enough to loose their cookies.   I just laughed and told him to get a room.   I’m not sure there’s really a point to that story other then, I love that my parents are hot after each other.  Even after 34 years and three kids.   Thru thick and thin they’ve been their for each other and I know without a doubt they will be for the rest of their lives.

Doug Yetman, who’s marrying Amy in just a few short weeks, asked me come photograph the Colfax Marathon Kick-off Breakfast.  Who doesn’t want to get up a 5 am!  Maybe it helped I’d get a cookbook out of the deal.  There were a few local Mayor’s in attendance including Denver Mayor Hickenlooper.

It was wicked bright in the Denver Museum of Nature and Science too.  The morning sun just came screaming in from the east.  But it made it kinda fun to play with all the light.  And these first two are holga shots.
